It will also give attendees the opportunity to collaborate with peers in the field of Business Intelligence and share ideas and strategies.

Notable speakers include a keynote address and presentations by Microsoft Power BI’s Principal Program Managers, Adam Sexton and Patrick LeBlanc, as well as IronEdge Group’s own, Greg Bounds, Daniel Villareal, and George Sturrock.

IronEdge Group Power BI Presentations Include:

Don’t Forget M: Editing Power Query Transformations | By Greg Bounds

Despite the vital role the M language plays in loading data into Power BI, most rely on Query Editor built-in transformations and use DAX for any remaining data modeling needs. The purpose of this session is to demystify M so beginner Power BI developers can feel comfortable editing and writing M. Developers that utilize M optimize their reports via reduced memory-intensive DAX usage, simplify otherwise complicated data modeling requirements, and easily share custom date and static tables.

Optimize it! Improving Power BI Performance and Distribution | By Daniel Villareal & Greg Bounds

After the measures and visuals are all created and the iterative development has slowed, what’s next? This session will review how to optimize a Power BI file for efficiency and distribution. Developers will learn when and where to normalize versus denormalize their data model, migrate memory-intensive functions to Power Query, organize and document code, prepare a file for distribution and handoff, and efficiently remove unused data. Bring your performance questions and your own best practices to share!

Predictive Capabilities in Power BI Pro | By George Sturrock

New machine learning capabilities are frequently introduced to Power BI. Many of the more talked about features are exclusive to Power BI Premium customers. However, powerful predictive capabilities exist within Power BI Pro. This session focuses on discussing how to extract value from three predictive features in Power BI Pro: the Key Influencer’s Visual, univariate forecasting, Python, and R code. Best practices, statistical dependencies, and working examples will be discussed to leave attendees with a working knowledge of how to leverage predictive capabilities within Power BI Pro.

“We’re excited to share the knowledge we have gained through our experience in helping business professionals throughout the U.S. get the most out their Business Intelligence tools,” says George Sturrock. “We’re also looking forward to learning and collaborating with other like-minded professionals in an effort to continually improve how we use data to make better business decisions,” he adds.
