Sales Engineer

Sales Engineers are responsible for creating emotionally driven experiences and relationships with our clients and team members each and every day. The Sales Engineer assists the Professional Services and Sales teams in successfully deploying solutions for their diverse client base.

This role is multifaceted and requires a background in Windows System Administration, Storage, Networking, Security and Cloud Computing. Additionally, notable experience is required designing, deploying, and documenting related technical solutions. Working directly with senior leaders, sales and account managers to address client business outcomes through technical solutions.

Achieving client goals through the creation or workplans, Bill of Materials creation and quote development process; continued through to implementation of the solution by providing guidance on outcomes the engineers building out the solutions.

Essential Functions

  • Creating unforgettable customer experiences by driving the proposed solutions to close
  • Develop and document technical solutions while adhering to project requirements, schedule, and budget
  • Consult with and advise internal/external customers on related solutions throughout the project lifecycle 
  • Travel as required for project planning and systems review
  • Proven ability to initiate, own­, and drive solutions to completion
  • Design of technical solutions for a variety of clients in many industries
  • Provide mentorship and leadership for team members
  • Serve as an advanced problem solver with creative solutions and a focus on long-term stability
  • Work directly with the account managers and sales team to create scoped solutions for clients and prospects
  • Present solutions to C-level executives and stake holders for their sign off
  • Create robust written reports and presentation material for use in the selling of solutions to clients and prospects
  • Drive adoption of solutions to clients and internal deployment and services teams
  • Document client solutions and changes in a professional and technical manner for other engineers and support personnel to use for understanding a solution or troubleshooting a problem in the future

Technical Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a technical field of study
  • Advanced technical certification or formal accomplishment
  • Accountable and independent self-starter with the ability to effectively stay on schedule, within hourly budget constraints and be a proactive communicator to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to be task oriented and close out deliverables in a timely manner
  • 5+ years experience with hands-on technical work
  • 5+ years experience with network infrastructure administration and solution design (firewalls, routers, switches, VPN technologies)
  • 5+ years experience in the design, deployment and support of Windows Servers on both physical and virtual infrastructure
  • 5+ years experience with virtualization platforms and administration
  • 2+ years experience with cloud computing (Azure, AWS)
  • 2+ years experience with security services or solutions

  • Wireless Solutions and Access Points
  • Client/Server application interaction
  • TCP/IP Connectivity
  • Rack Cabling
  • Colocation facilities and protocols
