Meet our Director of Procurement, Wayne Shipman! Specializing in working with manufacturing and software vendors, Wayne oversees procurement policies and manages distribution channels for IronEdge. In his spare time, you’ll find him cycling at the park, practicing his trombone or creating his next furniture masterpiece in his woodworking shop. What is your role and what year did you start working at IEG?
I’m the Director of Procurement and I started with IronEdge Group in February 2020.
Where did you grow up?
My hometown is Huntsville, Texas.
What inspired a career path in technology?
I’ve always been fascinated with technology, from the day my parents brought home a Commodore 64 to building PCs in college in the 90s.
Did you get a degree? If so, what was your major?
I completed my degree at Texas Tech University in General Studies with a minor in education, business, and music.
What hobbies/interests do you enjoy outside of work?
I spend most of my downtime either reading a book on a quiet evening, playing video games with longtime friends, going cycling at a park, practicing my trombone and creating furniture pieces through woodworking.
What’s on your bucket list? Any goals or dreams you’d like to share?
I’d like to go hiking in Norway.
What do you like most about your job at IronEdge?
At IronEdge Group, having an the opportunity to work with such passionate team oriented co-workers is what I enjoy most.
