IronEdge Group Food Bank donationDecember is National Giving Month, a season full of gifting to family, friends, neighbors and charitable organizations. In 2019, Americans gave $449.64 billion to U.S. charities with 30% of annual giving taking place in December. During this time of year, ovens are on, stovetops simmer with flavorful food and table placements are set to perfection for an eagerly anticipated meal to share with others.

Did you know 1 in 7 Texans experience food insecurity and are unable to provide enough food for every household member to maintain a healthy, active life? At IronEdge Group, we take a firm stand against hunger. Providing this fundamental necessity for our neighbors in the communities we serve is why we donate to the Houston and San Antonio Food Bank year after year. As a service centric company, it is a great privilege to bring hope, joy and healthy nutrition to those passing through difficult times, to help them get back on their feet and thrive.

The Houston Food Bank is the largest food bank in the U.S. and serves 18 counties in Southeast Texas. More than one million people within this service area are food insecure. Thanks to the support of its 1,500 community partners, the food bank distributed 159 million nutritious meals in 2020 to help neighbors in need in Southeast Texas.

Serving the second largest city in Texas, the San Antonio Food Bank and its 500 partner agencies assist 58,000 individuals a week. In 2020, the food bank distributed 2.4 million meals across 16 counties to fight food insecurity in Southwest Texas.

So, how can you lend a helping hand to community neighbors in need?  A few simple ways include: donating food through food drives and grocery store donation bins, monetary donations and volunteering time and talent individually or as a group.

This year was challenging for all of us in one way or another—from quarantines, to government mandated shutdowns, to adjusting to working from home, to facing economic uncertainty; however, the most rewarding part of 2020 was sharing more meals at home with our families and providing nutritious meals for our community neighbors. IronEdge is proud to donate to the Houston and San Antonio Food Banks with the goal of helping even more families enjoy meals together over the holidays and throughout the year. Together, as a community, let’s bring hope and healthy meals to every table and neighbor in need.
